This article is for my bald, bearded brothers out there who are trying to figure out how to blend their beard into their shaved head. Here you can see what my beard looks like before it’s blended and tampered correctly.
You can see my beard is bushy up by my ear and puffs out a little too much.
In order to blend your beard into your shaved head, you will need the following:
- Electric trimmers with a zero guard (1/16″ or 1.5mm)
- A razor
- Something with a straight edge
The area we will be focusing on is any part of the beard above the ear lobe.
Start in the middle of the ear with the trimmers and trim upwards, against the direction that the hair naturally lays. You will need to make sure you have the zero guard on.
Now, start to the same spot you started in as before, but this time shave downwards to the bottom of the ear lobe (still using the zero guard on the trimmers). Once you reach the ear lobe, the trimmers outwards. You will be trimming with the hair this time, going the same way the hair naturally grows.
Now just repeat this process on the other side.
You can stop at this point if you like, but I like to taper mine up into a point. To do this, use I use a razor and something with a straight edge (in my case I use the Cut Buddy).
Tapering The Sideburns
Angle the straight edge on your beard so it makes a point by the top of your ear.
Next, use a razor to shave any of the beard that is left exposed.
Finally, repeat these steps on the other side.
So here are the final results. You can see that my beard transitions into my shaved head much better than before and it looks a lot cleaner.
